Hello my name is Rico Brown, I am the Founder and CEO of Childhood Injury Prevention Services (CHIPS). I was paralyzed at the age of fourteen due to a Spinal-Cord Injury sustained while playing football, on a junior-league team. As a result of making one bad decision, I sustained a C4-5 Spinal Cord Injury which left me a quadriplegic, confined to using a wheelchair for the last thirty years.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina, with a Major in Psychology and Minors in Business and Spanish, I have dedicated my entire life to advocating and promoting awareness about various types of disabilities. In addition, I have several semester credits towards my Master's Degree in Rehab Counseling, which I one day hope to complete. I have worked with South Carolina’s only Center for Independent Living (CIL), now known as Able South Carolina, the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs and served on the Advisory Board for South Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. While living in Columbia, I served on the Mayor's Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities.
